Mike Squillante is a singer/songwriter native to New York. His last name, Squillante, literally translates to a “bell-like tone” or a “sound to rise above all others,” a quality which, in the old days of Italian opera, deemed certain opera singers “Squillantes.”

At 22, Mike has performed one-on-one for grammy-winning artist John Mayer after being selected by the Berklee College of Music (his alma mater) songwriting staff. He has played alongside the hit pop band Hot Chelle Rae at Warped Tour 2010. At 22, Mike performs regularly around major hotspot venues throughout NYC including The Bitter End, Arlene’s Grocery, Sullivan Hall, The National Underground, Dominion and Crash Mansion.

Mike was noticed by Perez Hilton and was selected as runner-up for one of Perez’s “Can You Sing” contests after submitting a self-produced, self-filmed, self-performed cover of “Without You” by David Guetta and Usher. Most recently Mike covered YouTube sensation Karmin’s brand new hit, Brokenhearted. Within the first week, Karmin had heard it, loved it, and tweeted Mike’s song to their 120,000 followers bringing in more publicity for the young artist. Currently Mike has over 230,000 YouTube views and will be going on tour this coming June. His debut album, Backward Glances, Second Chances, is available on iTunes.

Mike’s current goal is to continue making music his fans love and sign with a major record label allowing the world to hear his music.
